Listserv Guidelines
Coalition of Clinician Survivors (CCS) Listserv
The Coalition of Clinician Survivors (CCS) listserv is dedicated to providing a supportive, confidential, and advertisement-free space for clinicians navigating suicide loss. If you choose to become a member of CCS, you will be added to our listserv.
Guidelines:
1. Purpose and Scope: The CCS listserv exists solely to connect clinicians who have experienced a professional and/or personal suicide loss. Our priority is maintaining a safe space for members to share their stories and process their grief.
2. Confidentiality Agreement: All users agree to maintain strict confidentiality regarding shared posts and sensitive personal and professional information within this community. Posts may not be copied or forwarded outside the listserv without the express permission of the author.
3. Prohibited Topics: Discussions focused on suicide prevention or autopsy reviews are not allowed, as they may trigger pain or feelings of blame and responsibility for some members, especially those with recent losses.
4. Language Matters: Members are asked to utilize respectful, compassionate, and stigma-free suicide language both on the listserv and elsewhere. Please use phrases such as 'die/died by suicide,' 'suicide death,' or 'killed themself'. Avoid criminalizing or stigmatizing terms like "committed suicide" or success/failure terminology (e.g., 'successful,' 'failure,' 'completes,' 'tried,' 'achieved'). Language should focus on the person's experience, not the behavior.
5. Professional Conduct: Posts must promote dialogue and convey respect for all members. Avoid personal attacks or critiquing others. Encouraging the expression of feelings and experiences that resonate is encouraged. Please avoid efforts to tell others how they should feel, attempt to assign or remove blame or offer clinical advice.
6. Communication: Please use direct email (backchannel) for any communication intended only for an individual member or to make individual inquiries.
7. Advertising and Promotion: This is an ad-free space. Refrain from posting trainings, resources, products or self-promoting activities that carry a fee or involve topics that do not focus on suicide bereavement
Coalition of Clinician Survivors Direct Marketing Guidelines:
The CCS listserv exists primarily as a venue for clinician (various types of helpers) survivors of suicide loss to share their experiences and support each other.
We encourage the sharing of relevant resources and the ways in which we have used our own experiences, to support other clinician survivors.
The CCS listserv is not a space to directly market goods or services that profit individual members. If a member has developed a resource (an outside support group, blog, book, etc.) based on their personal and/or professional experiences, and that resource has a fee, they may only invite members to contact them back-channel for info.
We have also been reminded by CCS listserv members that trainings and publications that are about “preventing suicide” are not suitable for this listserv. Such materials are often experienced by CCS members as indicating that we are to blame for any suicide death of someone in our personal or professional life.
Please be aware that when a resource is a collaboration with CCS and provided at a minimal fee, the cost of that resource and registration info is allowed in the post.
Currently that applies to the 10-session group provided by Paula Marchese for clinician survivors of suicide deaths of patients.
